Maslenitsa in Moscow

Maslenitsa, also known as a Pancake week, is celebrated on the last week before the Great Lent. It is a symbol of Russian folk festivals full of fun, games and of course different kinds of pancakes! Today Russia celebrates Maslenitsa the old way showing the original traditions and history to the young generation and tourists of course. Public spaces are decorated with straw, stalls with national food, bright and colorful carousels etc. Also there are different kinds of performances held everywhere in the streets.
Maslenitsa ends with the burning of the figure of the Winter, symbolically it means the end of winter cold and the beginning of the spring. Maslenitsa ends with the burning of the figure of the Winter, symbolically it means the end of winter cold and the beginning of the spring.
